Our Purpose
01
To produce high quality scientific evidence demonstrating how and why independent outdoor play is important for children’s wellbeing.
02
To produce robust scientific research demonstrating what practical, cost-effective approaches can successfully improve children’s independent outdoor play, and reduce inequalities.
03
To mobilise evidence effectively to drive real change in children’s outdoor play and their lives.
Our Values
We are committed to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). This means that we embed children’s voices and experiences into our work and centre their experiences within our decision-making. This includes a commitment to engage with those who are often under-represented in research and those who are most affected by it.
We know that the opportunities to play outdoors are shaped by the neighbourhoods, environments, and policies that influence everyday choices. We want our work to empower parents and make it easier for them to support their child’s play.
Access to play is unequal and our research and impact work will always aim to reduce inequalities.
We work in an open and collaborative way with a range of partners to support, share and amplify our collective work to benefit children.
Our research will always be published in a way that is accessible to all. We will share our findings with those who are affected and with those who can take positive action.
